In January of 2006, a joint-venture agreement was made with leading Australian boat builder McConaghy Boats to build advanced composites racing yachts in our boating facility. Operating since spring of 2006 with 10 of McConaghy’s Australian builders relocating to Dongguan for the joint venture, leading a team of 40 plus local workers.
We have since built 2 x 55 ft prepreg carbon racing yacht, the first one Yendys entered the Sydney Hobart Race shortly after delivery and won in its class. The Chinese America Cup boat - Longzhi the photos here are of the boat being safely delivered to Spain on time. This is a project that we are extremely proud of; another feature project for our production portfolio. In addition, a Transpac 42ft ocean racing boat mold for one design serial production racing boat and several all-carbon prepreg 18ft skiff hulls have also left our factory doors. The last one being another Transpac 52 Racing yacht left for Europe. It was a feat to be able to finish 4 plus custom yachts within 14 months for a brand new boat yard set-up.
The joint venture ended last year due to differences in future developemnt direction and administrative system between the 2 partners.
Talks with several leading high end Yacht brands and Designers will be reaping more work of this type in the near future.
